According to The News Minute, the police arrested Padavala Rajesh, a native of Chirala in Prakasam district, working as an administrator in Data Digital Bank in Hyderabad, a firm associated with the Telugu film industry.

The incident came to light after a filmmaker alerted the producers of Geetha Govindam at Geetha Arts, following which a case was filed with the cyber crime police. The accused had allegedly copied the footage of the film and shared it among his relatives, who are students of KL University, where it was uploaded online and circulated. The cops found the students after tracking their IP addresses which where used to upload the footage.

Actor Vijay Deverakonda, who is the lead in the film, tweeted saying that he felt let down, disappointed and hurt. This is his first major release after last year’s Arjun Reddy. His tweet drew a lot of support from his fans.

Srinivas Kumar Naidu, the producer of another Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Taxiwala, also condemned the incident in a series of tweets. People who circulate pirated clips of films on social media will be tracked down, booked and punished according to law, he said.

Geetha Govindam is a romantic comedy that also stars Rashmika Mandanna. The film’s director, Parasuram was quoted as saying, “Two people with different ideologies meet and fall in love, but because of their egos, they face some complications. How they come out of their problems is narrated in an entertaining way.”

The film’s song, ‘Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale’, sung by Sid Sriram and composed by Gopi Sunder has been trending for more than two weeks now.

Vijay also has Taxiwala directed by Shiva, a bilingual NOTA directed by Seenu and a film titled Dear Comrade.
