Vijay Deverakonda is reportedly set to make his Tamil comeback with an upcoming sports drama. He debuted in Tamil cinema with NOTA, which hit screens with high expectations but didn’t fare well.

Directed by newcomer Anand Annamalai, the film is said to be a multilingual and will be shot in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The sports drama is reportedly titled Hero, and will be produced on a huge budget by Mytri Movie Makers. According to a report, the actor plays a bike racer in the film. He is currently getting trained in racing in Chennai.

Meanwhile, reports also say that Malavika Mohanan, who appeared in Rajinikanth’s Petta and Bollywood movie Beyond The Clouds, may star opposite Vijay Deverakonda in this film. There has been no confirmation on the speculations yet. It is said that the makers will announce the project once the actor is done with his current commitments.

Director Anand Annamalai has previously worked as a dialogue writer for the Tamil film Kaaka Muttai. In 1984, Megastar Chiranjeevi starred in a film called Hero directed by Vijaya Bapineedu, and in 2008 Nithin also acted in a film with the same title.

He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in Telugu for this film. It was impressive and got him a huge fan base in Tamil cinema too. He then made his Tamil debut with Anand Shankar’s political drama NOTA.

He was last seen in Taxiwaala, a science fiction supernatural comedy directed by Rahul Sankrityan. He is currently awaiting the release of the action-comedy love drama directed by Bharat Kamma.
