Vijay Sethupathi’s Karuppan began its shoot in Theni earlier this week. The movie is being directed by Paneerselvam, who rose to fame with Renigunta.
The movie is pitched as a rural entertainer, and is said to feature Vijay Sethupathi in a rustic look. In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, producer AM Ratnam said, “We have planned to complete the film in a single stretch of 70 days. Karuppan will be a family entertainer with commercial elements. The film has a huge star cast which includes Bobby Simhaa, Kishore and others.”

The producer seemed ecstatic about his first collaboration with the actor. He said that Paneerselvam has written a completely different role for Sethupathi. “His career graph has been exceptional and with the right scripts, he has the capability to achieve big things in the industry. We will announce the heroine in a couple of days,” he added.
Reports suggest that Lakshmi Menon has most likely been finalised for the project.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is busy with the shooting of Vikram Vedha, Kavan, Vasantha Kumaran. The actor has delivered back to back hits in 2016.
