At an event for the press yesterday, Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea and Rahman spoke about working on the Tamil film. Sethupathi said, “I first dubbed for the trailer and was unsure of myself, but with time I began enjoying dubbing for Iron Man.” He added that he wished to be like Iron Man, and said, “I love how he handles different situations… It would be nice if we could look at our problems from a distance. I think Iron Man does that.”

Andrea Jeremiah said she was excited when offered the part, for “dubbing for someone else in another language is always tricky. But with time I thought this was really cool – I was dubbing for Black Widow!” She also said that if a superhero movie was made in Tamil, Vijay Sethupathi would be perfect to play the role of Hulk, the character who she has a romance with in the film. Sethupathi, however, said he would like to play Thanos, because he loved villains as much as he did  heroes.

AR Rahman, the composer of the anthem, said that this was a new attempt for Kollywood and would pave the way for future collaborations. “When I was creating the song, I was afraid because, generally, if a Tamil or Hindi song plays in an English film, it feels out of place. There are a lot of people who are Marvel fans, but many others, like me, know nothing about Avengers. This song is for them. It’s like a small bridge to the film’s story and its characters.”

The Tamil anthem, similar to the recent Hindi version, is composed and sung by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Vivek. It has rap portions and heavy percussion, and the video offers glimpses of Marvel characters as well as scenes from previous movies. Rahman said, “This is a new attempt. And, for all those who liked the anthem, a big thank you. For those who didn’t, I’ll try again and do better.”
