After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi will play an “important extended cameo” role in Dhanush starrer Vada Chennai. But director Vetrimaran said, “it’s too early to comment now” when asked about the specifics of Vijay’s role in it.

While reports of actor Jiiva also being a part of the movie had surfaced in the past, there has been no confirmation on that front. Vada Chennai was in the news recently when actress Amala Paul replaced Samantha Ruth Prabhu who was reported to play the role of a slum dweller.
Vada Chennai chronicles the life of a gangster in North Chennai, played by Dhanush, over a span of 30 years. The movie said to be a trilogy, stars Amala Paul and Andrea Jeremiah. Other members of the cast are Daniel Balaji and Samuthirakani. Santhosh Narayanan is the music director of the film. The movie began shooting on 22 June.
Vada Chennai marks Dhanush’s third film after Polladhavan and Aadukalam under Vetrimaaran’s direction. Lyca Prodcutions will co-produce the film along with Dhanush’s Wunderbar Studios.
Few minutes after the announcement, #cameo and #Vada started trending in Chennai.
