Vijay Sethupathi plays a politician in his next, Maamanithan. Silverscreen earlier reported that the film, to be directed by Seenu Ramasamy, will trace the life and career of a Tamil Nadu based politician. At present, it is not known who the film is based on.

A spokesperson for Sethupathi confirmed the news, “Yes, the film is a biopic on a famous leader. At present, we cannot confirm who it is based on. The necessary permissions are being obtained.”
This is Vijay Sethupathi’s fourth with Seenu Ramasamy. Their last release was the 2016 Dharmadurai. Idam Porul Eval, a film made in 2014, still stands unreleased.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is the producer. He will also team up with his musician father Ilaiyaraaja to compose the music for the project.
