Vijay Sethupathi’s Aandavan Kattalai Will Have A Direct Theatrical Release

Aandavan Kattalai is an upcoming movie with actor Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead role. Directed by Manikandan of  Kaaka Muttai fame, the movie has Ritika Singh of Irudhi Suttru, and Pooja Devariya of Iraivi fame as part of the cast.

Aandavan Kattalai went on the floors early this year. Sources have confirmed that the movie has neared its completion and has entered the post-production phase. Director Manikandan told IANS that the movie would be quirky and away different from mainstream cinema. But unlike Kaaka Muttai, the movie deals with a light subject with an abundance of humour.

Director Manikandan in his interview with Deccan Chronicle said that the movie revolves around the issue of fake passports. “The characters in the film are desperate to go abroad and are ready to pursue their dreams using fake passports”. He added that the movie has a comical take on the issue.

Director Manikandan has worked before with the actor in the short films Wind and Kadhalithu Paar. He was full of praise for the actor and said it was easy to work with him since they had already worked together. “He hasn’t changed a bit over time. Even after starring in 16 films, it is surprising to see that his modesty is intact!” he said.

Unlike his previous movies such as Kaaka Muttai and Kutrame Thandanai starring Vidharth which were first screened in film festivals, this movie will have a direct theatrical release.

Meanwhile, actor Vijay Sethupathi will be next seen in Dharmadurai alongside actress Tamannaah. The actor has also been signed on for a cameo role in Dhanush starrer Vada Chennai.
