Directed by Sanil Kalathil, Marconi Mathai will be shot in both Tamil and Malayalam. According to a ToI report, it is produced by M.G. Premachandran under Satyam Cinemas, and is said to be a family-love story set in a village. Jayaram plays the role of Mathai, an ex-military man who works as security person at a cooperative bank.
Sanil Kalathil, who has directed the 2002 film Uthara, says about Marconi Mathai, “Mathai falls in love with Anna, a sweeper at the bank. The story is centred on the romance between Anna and Mathai.” The director says this is the reason for the movie’s caption, “When a gun falls in love with the broom.” He also says that radio plays a major role in the story.
About casting Vijay Sethupathi, he says, “It is a movie that belongs to the Vijay Sethupathi genre of films. In this world, we see many people who are good at solving problems and spreading happiness. He is one among them.”
Vijay Sethupathi’s Seethakaathi by director Balaji Tharaneenthran released yesterday. Sethupathi plays the role of a veteran theatre actor by the name of Ayya Aadhimoolam.
Marconi Mathai will go on floors on January 11. Main shoot locations will be Goa, Changanassery, Ernakulam and Chennai. Actors Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Hareesh Kanaran, Srinda, Sidharth Siva, Gregory and Mamukoya are part of the cast.
