Vijay’s fans have installed a statue in his honour. Fans in Chromepet spent over a lakh in the construction of a life-size statue and inaugurated it yesterday with a small pooja. Representatives of his fan clubs in and around Chennai were also present for the ceremony. The statue is made to resemble Vijay’s look in Thalaivaa, and features him in a tight white shirt, aviators and jeans. Photos of his ardent fans kissing the statue and praying in front of it have become a sensation on social media.
This is not the first statue of Vijay to be unveiled. Fans in Kerala made a statue for the actor in 2010, and in a coup of sorts, even managed to get Vijay to inaugurate it.
