Vijay To Play Dual Role in ‘Thalapathy 63’?

Reports have been speculating that Actor Vijay may be seen in a dual role in Atlee’s Thalapathy 63, co-starring Nayanthara. It is speculated that he plays the role of a father and son.  However, sources close to the film told Silverscreen that they have not received any information regarding this, and a confirmation cannot be given.

Vijay has played dual roles in films such as Azhagiya Tamizh Magan in 2007, where he starred as a hero and villain, and Kaththi in 2014. In 2017, he played a triple role in Mersal as Vetrimaaran, Maaran and Vetri, the wrestler father and his magician and doctor sons. Mersal, also directed by Atlee, was a huge blockbuster.

Vijay’s double role in Thalapathy 63 is one of the many rumours about the film that have been doing the rounds. It was earlier speculated that Shah Rukh Khan, who had visited Atlee at his office in March, may be seen as a cop in the film, but the team confirmed this was false news.

It is however known that Jackie Shroff is part of the cast and may be seen as the antagonist. The film is a sports drama with an investigative backdrop, with Vijay reportedly getting convicted for the murder of someone. In November last year, it was announced that Nayanthara plays the female lead. Vijay may be seen as the coach of a women’s football team, with Varsha Bolamma, Indhuja, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Vivekh, Soundara Raja and others in supporting roles. The film will also be lighter than Vijay’s previous movies.

AR Rahman is the composer and Vivek is the lyricist. The movie is produced by Archana Kalapathi of AGS Entertainment.

The final 70-day schedule of shoot began in Chennai last month, and Vijay announced this by meeting his fans who had crowded outside the shooting spot. He also confirmed that he was doing okay after pictures of an injury to his neck went viral on social media.

The film is scheduled to release during Diwali this year. But before this, Vijay’s birthday is on June 22 and his fans have begun preparations.

Meanwhile, work on Thalapathy 64 has reportedly started. Nayanthara is also gearing up for the release of Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, and she has Darbar under production.
