Vijayakant Is Doing Well, Don’t Believe In Rumours: DMDK

The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party released a statement on Friday stating that the party chief, Vijayakanth is doing well and urged people not to believe in rumours regarding his health. A few reports had earlier suggested that Vijayakanth was admitted to the Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MIOT) International hospital in Chennai on Friday. However, there was no official confirmation on it.

The actor-politician was hospitalized last year summer as well. He has been suffering from various ailments over the past couple of years and have made trips to the US to seek treatment. It was also reported that he could not attend DMK supremo M Karunanidhi’s funeral as he was undergoing treatment.

After a long and successful career in Tamil cinema, Vijayakanth launched his own party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) in 2005. Fondly called as the ‘Captain’ by his fans and peers, Vijayakanth created his own identity in Tamil politics with his firebrand attitude, although his party failed to make any electoral impact.
