Vijayashanti To Make A Come Back With Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevaru’

Actress-politician Vijayashanti has joined the cast of Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevaru, directed by Ani Ravipudi. She is making her come back to cinema after 13 years.

Specuations were rife that she was in talks for the film. The director confirmed the news on Twitter recently, and said, “After 13 years, it’s make up time for Vijayashanti garu… Nothing has ever changed in all these years. Same attitude, discipline and dynamism.”

Vijayashanti also responded to the tweet.

Vijayashanti was last seen in Naayudamma, which released in 2006. She has also acted with Mahesh Babu in the 1989 action film Koduku Diddina Kapuram.

Vijayashanti is an actor, producer and politician. The best years of her film career were the 80s and 90s when she worked on over 100 films, and became popular as the ‘Lady Superstar’. She was reportedly the only actress in the 90s to demand equal salary to Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth and the male actors in her films.

In 1998, she entered politics by joining the BJP and later worked as a campaigner for AIADMK. She was a Member of Parliament elected from the Medak constituency, and in 2014 she joined the Congress party.

In Sarileru Neekevaru, she stars with Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan and Rajendra Prasad in important roles. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead. This is Rashmika’s first collaboration with Mahesh Babu.

The film began shoot in Kashmir in July and a later schedule was at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where sets reportedly worth Rs 4 crores were constructed. The first look poster released in May and featured Mahesh Babu as an army officer. A teaser introducing him in the film released on his birthday on August 9.

The title track released yesterday, and has been trending online.

The film is produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara, along with Dil Raju under his home banner Sri Venkateswara Creations, G Mahesh Babu Entertainment and AK Entertainments.

It is scheduled for release during Shankaranthi in January 2020, and will also simultaneously by dubbed and released in Tamil.
