The makers of the film announced the release date on social media on Tuesday, by unveiling a new poster featuring the actor.

Beast is written and directed by filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, who last directed the hit black comedy movie Doctor. The upcoming film is backed by the Sun Pictures banner.

It is to be noted that Beast, one of the year’s highly anticipated Tamil films, arrives a day before the release of another biggie from the Kannada film industry, KGF Chapter 2, thus averting a direct clash. KGF: Chapter 2, starring Yash, is scheduled for a pan-Indian release on April 14.

Beast is Vijay’s 65th film and it marks the actor’s first collaboration with director Nelson. The film was launched a nearly year ago, in April 2021, and was wrapped up in December. It is shot by cinematographer Manoj Paramhamsa and edited by R Nirmal.

The film has been certified U/A, with a runtime of two hours and 25 minutes.

Beast also stars actors Pooja Hegde, and marks her return to the Tamil film industry after nearly a decade. Her last outing in Tamil was the 2012 superhero drama Mugamoodi.

Others who are part of the cast of Beast include actors Shine Tom Chacko, Redin Kingsley, Aparna Das, Yogi BabuVTV Ganesh, Ankur Ajit Vikal, Liliput Faruqui, and filmmaker Selvaraghavan.

The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, who worked on both of Nelson’s previous directorials as well. The composer also scored Vijay’s last film Master. The makers of Beast have released two songs from the film thus far: Arabic Kuthu (with lyrics by actor Sivakarthikeyan) and Jolly O Gymkhana. Both have become viral hits on social media.

After Beast, Vijay is gearing up for his 66th film with Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally. The project is backed by producer Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
