Dhanush has announced that VIP -2, the sequel to Velayilla Pattathari, will release on August 11.

The official confirmation put an end to rumours that the film was releasing on August 18, just a week ahead of Ajith Kumar’s Vivegam.
At present, six films are scheduled to release on August 11. With Dhanush’s latest announcement though, all that could change. The films could opt for another date to avoid a clash with VIP 2.
The film was originally scheduled to hit the screens on July 28 – Dhanush’s birthday. But, it was later postponed to August by the makers.
Music for the project has been composed by Sean Roldan while Soundarya Rajinikanth is the director. Sameer Thahir has been roped in to handle the cinematography.

VIP released in 2014 and followed the life of an aspiring civil engineer, Raghuvaran. The film tackled the rising rate of unemployment among the youth and was lauded for its unique mix of the commercial as well as the offbeat. Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani played Dhanush’s parents in the film directed by Velraj. Wunderbar Studios was the producer.
