Yesterday, at the inauguration of the Tamil Film Producers Council’s new office in Kodambakkam, Chennai, actor and TFPC president Vishal Krishna said that the Ilaiyaraaja 75 event will happen without any hurdles.
This was after the Madras High Court heard the petition filed by producer JSK Satish Kumar, and asked for a notice to be sent to the TFPC, seeking explanation about the alleged financial irregularities in the council.
The case was heard by Justice K Kalyanasundaram, and has been adjourned to January 28.
Speaking to the press about the petition, Vishal said, “I respect and consider the court to be a temple, and the judges are god. But there is nothing wrong, and we are organizing the event honestly. I’m sure that such hurdles will not affect us in anyway.”
“Our legal team is doing all that is needed. Our team is working 24 hours to make the event a success, we think that there is nothing harmful or wrong in giving a tribute to a genius, who has worked on over thousand films,” he said.
When asked about TFPC’s old office in T Nagar which was sealed earlier, the actor said, “Work is going on in the old office in T Nagar. The producers’ chamber office is also working. Apart from this, we have inaugurated the new office, and I hope that no one can lock this office because we follow a different bio metric system here.”
The inauguration of the new office in Kodambakkam was attended by Vishal Krishna, producer Parthipen and other members of the council.

On Tuesday, producer JSK Satish Kumar had filed a petition in the against the TFPC, seeking a stay on the Ilaiyaraaja 75 event alleging financial discrepancies in the council’s funds. He asked where the council had spent its deposit amount of Rs 7 crore, and demanded that they reimburse the amount before conducting the event.
Since December, producers have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with Vishal as the TFPC president, and about lack of transparency in the council accounts. A group of dissenting producers had also sealed the office of TFPC in T Nagar, Chennai, which lead to a controversy.
