Produced by Vishal, the film was stalled over a tiff between the actor and film’s former director Mysskin. In March, Vishal released a press statement alleging that Mysskin was overspending the producer’s (his) money.

“As a producer, I still wonder why does a director, who specifically wanted to write the script in Canada and the UK and spend the producer’s money to the tune of close to Rs 35 lakh for the above, drop out of the movie midway. That too, after having started shoot without proper planning, location hunting, and spending close to 13 crores. Is it because I didn’t have the money to complete the film? No,” he wrote.

In the same statement, Vishal announced his decision to take up the film’s direction. The film’s first schedule was completed in London last year. It is not yet known whether the film will retain the parts directed by Mysskin.

Thupparivalan 2 is a sequel of the 2017 film of the same name. It marks the return of Vishal as detective Kaniyan Poogundran along with his partner Manohar, played by Prasanna. The film also stars debutante Ashya in one of the lead roles. While the cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah, Ilaiyaraaja will compose the music.

Meanwhile, Vishal’s upcoming film Chakra has wrapped up shooting and the post-production is in progress. Confirming this on social media, the film’s publicity manager Johnson said that the film is set to release soon.

Along with Vishal, Chakra also stars Shraddha Srinath and Regina Cassandra in the lead. Written and directed by MS Anandan, Vishal is producing the film under the banner of Vishal Film Factory.
