Viswasam released amidst a lot of fanfare yesterday. It is director Siva and Ajith Kumar’s fourth collaboration after Vivegam, Vedalam and Veeram. And from the reactions to the film, Viswasam is once again the mass family-entertainer that Ajith fans were looking forward to.
For the first time, this Pongal, an Ajith film met head on with a Rajini film. As per reviews, Petta may be the better film. In numbers too it has the bigger box-office collection abroad and in Tamil Nadu. But Viswasam‘s day 1 collection of Rs 0.88 crore in Chennai, is the highest that an Ajith film has earned so far.
Since its release last morning, responses from many celebrities who watched the film have poured in. Actors Sivakarthikeyan, Arun Vijay, Raghava Lawrence, Nazriya, directors Suseenthiran, Venkat Prabhu producer Dhananjayan were among those who wished the team.
Their reactions were similar, they said the film was a complete entertainer.

Social media reactions from the audience however, was mixed. Kalilur Rahman said the Siva has made better, engaging films, and Viswasam‘s emotional moments were outdated. Ashwin Ramachandra said the conflict of the film of meaningful, but its core was rushed.
What was unexpected for most people in the audience, was the second half which was high on emotions. They said the emotional scenes were out of syllabus for an Ajith film, and so it is not a complete mass film, but a good entertainer.

What I thought was a throughout mass film but @directorsiva sir had other ideas and he had right mix of family emotions with a massy screenplay.
