After names like Bobby Simha, Arjun and even Abhishek Bachchan cropped up in reports about who plays the villain in Ajith Kumar’s next film with Siva, it has now been confirmed that Vivek Oberoi is playing the role. The actor, best known for his films like SaathiyaCompany and Rakht Charitra, will make his Tamil debut through this project, which is tentatively titled, AK57.

The shooting of the film went on the floors last month, with scenes being shot in locales across Europe. Siruthai Siva, who directed Ajith’s last two films Veeram and Vedalam is directing this film too. Unlike the last two films which were based in India, AK57 is reported to be an international spy thriller. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ajith will play the role of an Interpol officer. The film stars Kajal Aggarwal and Akshara Haasan in pivotal roles.

Vivek Oberoi is no stranger to playing the villain. He played the role of the antagonist in Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra. The film was also dubbed into Tamil. He also played the role of Kaal, an evil scientist in the 2013 Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish 3.

Anirudh Ravichander who scored the music of Vedalam is the composer for AK57.  The film, produced by TG Thyagarajan is slated for an April 2017 release.
