Veteran actor VS Raghavan, who has more than 1ooo films to his credit, passed away this evening. He was 90 years old.
According to reports, the actor was admitted to a private hospital recently after a long period of illness. He is survived by two sons and a grandson.
The actor, who was born in Kanchipuram district in 1925, made his big screen debut with the MGR – Padmini starrer Vaira Maalai. Raghavan was one of the founding members of the Indian National Artistes drama troupe, of which director K Balachander was also a member. He went on to star in a number of MGR films and is known for his character roles in classics such as Kadhalikka Neramillai, Sumai Thaangi and Nenjirukkum Varai.
Despite several age-related ailments over the past few years, Raghavan continued to work in the film industry, making appearances in films such as Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam, Oru Kanniyum Moondru Kalavaanigalum and Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara.
