The trailer of C U Soon starring actors Fahad Faasil, Roshan Mathew, and Darshana Rajendran is out now. Helmed and edited by Mahesh Narayanan (Take Off ), the gripping drama revolves around a software engineer from Kerala who helps his Dubai-based cousin, on the request of his parents, find his missing fiancée, after she leaves behind a video-based suicide note. The experimental feature has been commissioned by Fahad Faasil under his Fahadh Faasil and Friends banner.
The 2min 50sec trailer adopts the linear pattern, gradually building on the tension and leaving us intrigued at the end. A couple, Jimmy (Roshan) and Anu (Darshana) are seen connecting on a call and are eager on meeting each other. Following this, Jimmy’s mother Mariamma (Maala Parvathi) and Kevin, Jimmy’s cousin, are introduced. Mariamma asks Kevin (Fahad) to do some background research on Anu, who seems to be going through physical abuse at home, while staying connected with Kevin. One day, Anu leaves a suicide note, making Jimmy and Kevin, who are unaware of her whereabouts, go berserk.
Though it’s all messy and swiftly cut with video conference interfaces taking up most of the trailer, it leaves one wondering what could possibly be the reason for Anu’s extreme decision and absconding.
Amazon Prime Video took to Twitter to release the trailer.

The feature that reportedly has a runtime of one hour has been shot on iPhone and has been made exclusively for a digital release. It has been shot with a minimal crew in a controlled and restricted environment during the lockdown period. Saiju Kurup has also landed an important role in the film.
Actor and Producer Fahadh Faasil earlier said that associating with Mahesh has always been an inspiring experience for him. “Making C U Soon was an interesting and exciting experience. Having shot the film entirely during the lockdown, we’re immensely glad to be able to continue to entertain and bring exciting content for our audience even at a time like this and hope that fans across the world enjoy and share their love towards the film,” said Fahad.
“C U Soon is a computer-screen-based drama thriller – a new concept that has barely been explored in Indian cinema. People are attempting to stay virtually connected during these unprecedented times, and we wanted to take this concept a step further by exploring a unique format of storytelling through multiple screen devices,” said director Mahesh Narayan.
He added, “This film would not have been conceptualised or created without the virtual communication software and their developers. I hope this will inspire many artists to realise their creativity during such times and turn these challenging situations into opportunities to discover a new narrative of storytelling.”
Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head, Content, Amazon Prime Video India said, “It is our endeavour to consistently bring the latest entertainment for our customers across languages and unique formats. We have witnessed the great success of Malayalam films like Sufiyum Sujatayum, Trance, Lucifer, and Kumbalangi Nights. Fahadh Faasil is synonymous with gripping Indian language blockbusters and a combination of him with director Mahesh Narayan in an experimental film format is definitely one to watch out for. With Onam around the corner, we are hoping to add a little more sweetness to the festivities with the release of C U Soon!”
Actor-director-politician Kamal Haasan had also wished the team luck.
