The trailer of Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl has dropped. She drove the Cheetah Helicopter in the 1999 Kargil War and paved the way for several other women to enter the battlefield.

The trailer begins with the usual backlash women face when they decide to opt for anything but staying within four walls. And Gunjan’s (Janhvi) story is no different. While the whole family is against her decision to join the Air Force, her father (Pankaj Tripathi) seems to side with her and helps her through the process of selection. Being the only girl at the base, she strives to prove herself and makes use of the opportunity to drive during the Kargil War withstanding the mansplaining, misogyny, and trash talk from all of her colleagues and family members.

Janhvi is quite impressive right through and comes off as a determined officer. Pankaj Tripathi establishes himself well as the man caught between his stubborn daughter and dominating wife.

Netflix took to Twitter to release the trailer.

Helmed by debutant Sharan Sharma and bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, the film also stars Viineet Kumar Singh, Angad Bedi, and Manav Vij in important roles. On the technical front, music is by John Stewart Eduri, cinematography by R Dee, and editing by Aarif Sheikh. Nikhil Mehrotra has penned the story along with Sharan Sharma.
