To mark actor Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday a slew of announcements have been coming. The actor announced his as-yet-untitled project, and also released the trailer of his upcoming film Kurup today. Makers of the film directed by Srinath Rajendran (who made Second Show) released a sneak peek today. This is the highest budget for a Dulquer film yet, with Rs. 35 crores being spent on the making. Kurup is produced by Wayfarer Films and M Star Entertainment, owned by Dulquer Salman.
The film has been shot at multiple locations including Kerala, Ahmedabad, Bombay, Dubai, Mangalore and Mysore. 105 days were spent shooting. The film is based on the life of a notorious murderer Sukumara Kurup, who has been on the run from the law since 1984 after murdering a man. The film was slated for an Eid release but because of the spread of COVID-19, the release has been delayed by the makers.

The screenplay of the film has been written by Jitin K Jose. The film’s dialogues and direction are by Daniel Sayuj Nair and K S Arvind. Nikhil Ravi is cinematographer and Sushin Shyam is the music director. Vini Vishwalal is the creative director. Vinesh Banglan, the national award winning production designer (for the film Kammara Sambhavam) is handling the production design for Kurup. Vivek Harshan, also a national award winner, is the editor of the film.
Kurup also stars Shobhita Dhulipala as the female lead, and Indrajith Sukumaran, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Kachcharao, Vijayaraghavan, P Balachandran, Surabhi Lakshmi and Sivajit Padmanabhan are also acting in the film.
The other crew include – Praveen Chandran (chief associate director), Vignesh Kishan Rajesh (sound design), Ronex Xavier (makeup), Praveen Verma (costumes), Deepak Parameshwaran (production controller), Athira Diljit (PRO), Shuheib SBK (stills), Anand Rajendran (poster design).
