The teaser of Tropic Thunder fame Brandon T Jackson, GV Prakash Kumar, and Nepoleon starrer Trap City is out now. Helmed by writer-director Ricky Burchell, it is being bankrolled by three production houses namely, Kyyba Films, Nasik Rav Media, and Kingdom Over Everything – KOE. It marks the Hollywood debut of GV and the third film of Nepoleon after Devil’s Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge and Christmas Coupon.
The one-minute teaser gives us only a glimpse of GV Prakash and Nepoleon, focussing more on the lead actor Brandon who is arrested by cops who break into his house. What follows is a montage of shots of Dennis LA White addressing a gathering about the abuse of power, a pole dancer performing, Brandon talking to various people, arguing with a bunch of guys, and singing, with a narration that speaks about how there’s only a thin line between truth and lies, real and fake, and an unusual juxtaposition of the lot – reality and ‘the streets’.
Actor Vijay Sethupathi took to Twitter to release the teaser.

The movie is reportedly about a rapper striving to make it big whilst working for a drug lord. A song that he records goes viral right before he gets arrested for a crime. How he tackles all the hurdles and achieves his goal forms the rest of the story. It has been shot entirely at Nashville, Tennessee.
The film also stars Clifton Powell, Juhahn Jones, Bethany Sharp and Erica Pinkett. GV plays a surgeon in the film while Nepoleon essays the character of Naveen. Brandon plays DeShawn, Clifton plays Goose, Dennis plays Jacoby, Juhahn plays Trey, Erica plays Bella, and Bethany plays Candence Finestein.
Prakash and Nepoleon forayed into the Hollywood industry with the help of Kyyba Films’ Tel Ganesan. Speaking of how GV was roped in, Producer Tel Ganesan earlier said in a statement, “We got the idea to make this film in 2019. I met Prakash for a soundtrack that I required and that was when I invited him to come to Hollywood. Through this film, he would be reaching out to an audience base bigger than the usual base. The English market comprises around 170 countries. So, the reach will be phenomenal.”
Earlier, GV Prakash had also said that he thoroughly enjoyed working on the project. “I am glad to foray into the industry with this film. I shot for around three days in Nashville. My co-star Brandon is basically a very nice person and I enjoyed working with this entire unit. In fact, we are in touch even after the film is over,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the actor-singer-composer has also sung two songs in the film, but hasn’t composed for the same. The film earlier set to release in Summer 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic. It will now hit screens worldwide post-lockdown.
