Weekend Watch: Sathya, Richie, Kodiveeran, And Fukrey Returns

Sathya (Tamil)

Sathya Movie Stills Starring Sibiraj, Remya Nambeesan and Others

Directed by Pradeep Krishnamurthy, who debuted with Saithaan earlier this year, this film is a thriller, and is supposedly a remake of Telugu film Kshanam.

The title is borrowed from the Kamal Haasan film. The film has Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Remya Nambeesan, and music by Simon K King. The film was initially slated to release in April this year but got postponed several times.

Richie (Tamil)

Richie marks Nivin Pauly’s first straight Tamil film, directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran. The film has the Malayalam actor playing a local thug and the actor has dubbed for his character.

Nivin plays a local thug in Thoothukudi, who roams around like he owns the world. The film also revolves around an investigation and a few characters involved in it. Nivin’s character is also a part of that investigation.

Richie has Shraddha Srinath as the female lead and Lakshmi Priya and Raj Bharath in supporting roles. Ajaneesh Loknath has scored the music and Padi Kumar has done the cinematography for this film, which was entirely shot in Thoothukudi.

Kodiveeran (Tamil) Copyrighted Photos

Kodiveeran is director M Muthaiah’s fourth film after Kutti Puli, Komban and Marudhu, and his second collaboration with M Sasikumar. Much like his other films, this one is also billed to be a village entertainer.

The film has been entirely shot in Madurai. Lead actress Poorna had to tonsure her head for the role. In an interview with IANS a few months ago, the actress said that she didn’t shave it to prove a point.

“I accepted the role only after I realised the potential of my character. It’s not the kind of role all actresses would do and that excited me the most,” she said.

The film also stars Mahima Nambiar, with music by NR Raghunanthan.

Fukrey Returns (Hindi)

Zafar (Ali Fazal), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), and Lali (Manjot Singh) are back, the street smart boys who wreaked havoc in 2013’s coming-of-age film Fukrey. The sequel also marks the return of the dreaded gangster from the first film, Bholi Punjaban played by Richa Chadda.

Having caught by the police in the last film, Bholi returns and wants to exact the past with the four friends. Amidst all this, there’s a tiger in a cave, while they play bookies, and talk of Deja Chu (Choocha’s version of Deja Vu).

Toilet jokes aside and the search for a cave with treasure perhaps, the film also features Pankaj Tripathi as part of the cast.

Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, with music by Ram Sampath.
