It is known that a biopic is being made on the life of politician and late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, with Mammootty playing the titular role. While the pre-production work on the film has started, the buzz is that the late politician’s family has become involved in the process.
Shares a source, “Son of YSR and the chief of YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy is very keen that a film on his father would be perfect. He has been involved from the beginning of the entire process. In fact, work on the film began only after he approved the first draft of the story line.”
Sources say that every day progress reports are sent to his office. What’s more, he will be monitoring the shoots of the film as well.
Revealing what part of YSR’s life the film will focus on, the source reveals, “Initially the team wanted to shoot the entire life of the politician. However, they eventually felt that it would lead to diluting important incidents in his life, including the famous pada yatra that YSR undertook before winning the elections and becoming the Chief Minister.”
Titled Yatra, the film is being directed by Mahi V. Raghav and the team is planning an August 2019 release.
