Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who was also one of the co-producers of Nayanthara’s Kolayuthir Kaalam clarified that he is not composing music for the movie. V Mathiyalagan, who had bought the movie from the original producers, has now hired Sam CS to compose the music, reports IFlicks.
Kolayuthir Kaalam was supposed to be Yuvan Shakar Raja’s foray into movie production; a credit that now belongs to Pyaar Prema Kadhal. Last week, the music composer took to social media to make the announcement.

V Mathiyalagan complained that he was not informed about this till the last minute. “I bought this film in December 2018. My only concern is that Yuvan Shankar Raja never brought this issue up in the last three months. Why did he wait for me to organise promotional events and then announce that he is not a part of the project? I didn’t expect this from him.”
Pooja Entertainment, the company that was previously financing the movie failed to come up with an explanation for the composer’s exit, claims Mathiyalagan. “I got upset after reading Yuvan’s tweet. I called Pooja Entertainments, from whom I bought the rights of the film and asked why Yuvan has backed off from the project. They didn’t give me any proper explanation and requested me to remove his name from trailer launch posters and videos. I did as they said.”

The movie does not feature any original songs. It will have only a background score for which Sam CS has been hired. “There are no songs in the film. Yuvan Shankar Raja had to work only on the background score. Now that he has quit, we have decided to rope in Sam CS as the composer. We have already spoken to him and he has agreed to be a part of this project as well. He will start working on the re-recording and BGM once we make an official announcement regarding the same.”
Directed by Chakri Toleti, Kolayuthir Kaalam is a horror thriller. The movie had gone on floors in 2016 and is gearing up for release this year. The recently held trailer launch function made news when Radha Ravi passed misogynistic remarks against Nayanthara who was not present at the event.
This invited sharp criticism from various quarters with the DMK temporarily suspending him from the party. Radha Ravi is yet to apologize for his comments.
