Yuvan Shankar Raja will compose the music for Sri Ganesh’s upcoming film Kurudhi Aattam. The film has Atharvaa Murali as one of the leads.

“I have always been a fan of Yuvan sir and Raaja (Ilaiyaraaja) sir’s music. To have Yuvan sir compose music for my second film is a great feeling. We haven’t even started the movie and we already feel so positive.”

The director says that it took fifteen minutes of narration for Yuvan to come on board. “He was very quiet after I was done narrating the story. I had held my breath throughout his silence. It was such a relief when he finally said yes.”

While writing the script, Sri Ganesh had decided to approach Yuvan. “My film is set in Madurai and it’s a thriller. The background score is the soul of the movie, and Yuvan sir has set such high standards with his work. I felt that with his work, he would bring in the effect that I needed. For me, there was no other option. I felt that Yuvan would be the only person who would understand the story and write the music accordingly.”

A fan of Yuvan’s work in Aaranya Kaandam, Sri Ganesh said that the composer’s work will elevate the script of Kurudhi Aattam.

At present, the team hopes to begin filming from September. The female lead is yet to be finalised. “Talks are going on with leading actresses. We will make an announcement soon,” he said.

Sri Ganesh made his debut with the critically acclaimed 8 Thottakkal.
