Cheran’s JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai will release this Pongal in 75 theatres across the state. The director will be making the movie available to the audience online, and also through DVDs and set top boxes via his Cinema to Home initiative. Speaking at a press meet for C2H recently, Cheran revealed, “Pisaasu and Vellaikara Dorai have been hit hard by piracy, and yet they continue to rule the box office. I’m hoping that by releasing my own film through all these mediums – DVD, website etc – I will be able to see the same kind of response.”
Interestingly, JK will be the first film to be released by Cheran under C2H. Most of the new film DVDs will be priced at around Rs 50 while films with big stars will have a marginally higher price – between Rs 75 and Rs 100. After JK…, Arjunanin Kadhali will be the second movie, followed by Koditae Eduthae Nirappuga, Vaarayo Vennilavae, and the Rohini-directorial Appavin Meesai.
