Vetrimaaran will kickstart Asuran from 2019, a spokesperson for the film said. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu for his V Creations, the film sees Dhanush and Vetrimaaran team up for the fourth time. They recently collaborated for the first part of the Vada Chennai trilogy.

Thanu says that he signed on to produce the film as Vetrimaaran is a great writer and director who provides quality content without compromising on his core values. “I really enjoyed his previous movies including Vada Chennai and Visaaranai. That is why I chose to do this new film. Anyway, Dhanush and I had been discussing about making a film for a long time now. When this story came to me, I immediately got onboard,” he said.

Some key roles are being cast, says Thanu. “We are in the middle of fine tuning a few details about the project. So we are not very comfortable with making any announcements at this stage. Casting is going on. So we will let everybody know about the cast and the crew soon,” he added.
On reports that Anirudh had been signed on as music composer, Thanu said: “We haven’t really zeroed in on anybody as yet. Only Dhanush, Vetrimaaran and Thanu are confirmed in the project,” he said.
Dhanush also has his second directorial, financed by Thenandal Film Studio. The actor has cast Nagarjuna, Srikanth, SJ Suryah in this film. He plays the lead role as well.
As yet untitled, the film went on the floors earlier this year.
He also has Enai Nokki Paayum Thota with Gautham Menon. The film was supposed to release this year but has once again been postponed. Megha Akash plays the female lead in this movie with music by Darbuka Siva.
