Gouthami, Kalabhavan Mani in Tamil Drishyam

Gouthami will play Kamal Haasan’s wife in the Tamil remake of Drishyam, director Jeethu Joseph confirmed the news to Silverscreen. The role was originally played by actress Meena, who also reprised it in Telugu. Also, Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani has been finalised to essay the role of the antagonist police constable (played by Kalabhavan Shajon in the original).

Only Asha Sharath and child artiste Esther have been retained from the original cast (Esther was also part of the Telugu and Kannada remake while Sharath’s role was done by Nadia in the Telugu version). Niveda Thomas (who has appeared in Naveena Saraswathi Sabadham and Jilla) has been roped in to play the role done by Ansiba Hassan. Ananth Mahadevan, who replaces actor Siddique in the Tamil version, has an important role as well. “Paapanasam is a working title as for now. We might change it later on,” said the director. The Telugu (Drushyam) and Kannada (Drishya) remakes were directed by actress Sripriya and P Vasu respectively.​
