Tigmanshu Dhulia, the director of movies like Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Paan Singh Tomar confirmed the news in an interview. “I did meet him after he returned to India. He is perfectly fine now. Irrfan told me that he will begin shooting for Hindi Medium franchise soon,” Dhulia was quoted by DC.

Hindi Medium, directed by Saket Chaudhary, spoke about a couple trying to get their son admitted in an English medium school. The movie, a social satire, went on to become a huge hit. It also released in China where it became successful.

Last month, a source close to the movie had said that the costume designers had already started work. “Hindi Medium is going on floors on February 22. Costume designers have already started looking for Irrfan’s outfits. The leading lady is yet to be decided,” said the source.

Irrfan had won the National Award for the Best Actor for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s film Paan Singh Tomar. When asked about collaborating with the actor, Dhulia replied “Yes, we will do a film soon. Actually, we were in the process of writing one for him. Probably, if everything goes well, we shall be making the film soon.”

Reports emerged early last year that the actor was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Soon, the actor released a statement saying that he had a neuroendocrine tumour and that it was not related to the brain. He was last seen in the 2018 film Karwaan.

Meanwhile, Tigmanshu Dhulia is gearing up for the release of his new film Milan Talkies. He has not only directed the movie but also has starred in it. “We weren’t able to rope in good actors for the role so I decided to take it up,” he said.
