Director Shankar has released a poster featuring Kamal Haasan from Indian 2, today on Independence Day. The actor has joined the film sets and shooting has begun. The poster features a city with sky scrapers and has Kamal Haasan striking a pose as Senapathy.

A source close to the film told Silverscreen that the shoot began on August 12. “Actors Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh filmed their portions in Kotturpuram in Chennai, and Kamal Haasan joined them today. The team is currently in Ambattur. They will move to Hyderabad for a schedule later this month.”
They are reportedly planning to wrap up shoot in the next six months. Last week, Kamal Haasan revealed on the sets of Bigg Boss, the show hosted by him, that he will have a clean-shaven look for both Indian 2 and his upcoming Thalaivan Irukkindran, the political thriller that was shelved and recently revived.
Indian 2 went on floors in January this year, with Kajal Aggarwal joining the cast. A first-look poster featuring Kamal was also released.

The 1996 film featured Kamal Haasan in dual roles as a father and son. Written by Sujatha and directed by Shankar, the film told the story of vigilante Senapathy who roots out corruption from the system. Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Sukanya starred in important roles. The sequel will star Kajal Aggarwal in the lead, and she has reportedly trained in Kalaripayattu to prepare for her part.
Priya Bhavani Shankar recently also confirmed that she plays the lead along with Kamal, Kajal Aggarwal and Siddharth. She tweeted the news saying she instantly signed up after listening to the narration.

Cinematographer Ravi Varman was initially on board, but he opted out due to Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, which will go on floors from December. He has been replaced by Rathnavelu. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, editing by Sreekar Prasad and production by Lyca.
Meanwhile, director Shankar is said to have also begun work on his next film, a big budget project that has been in the pipeline for many years.
