In the the two-minute teaser we get a glimpse into these stories. The teaser has no dialogue. It features eight lead actors, their lives and how they are inter-connected.

Leela Samson stars as a child-like person who is scared of injections and plays at the children’s park. KravMaga Sreeram seems to admire Leela, and they might have an attraction that is not bound by age.

In the next story, we see young romance between a boy near a dump-yard, and a rich Sara Arjun. The third one has Nivedhithaa Sathish and Manikandan K in a fun, casual relationship.

These stories are about love, but the fourth one with Samuthirakani and Sunaina is different. They are a married couple, and there is distance between them even as they try to get close.

Director Halitha earlier told Silverscreen that Sillu karupatti will see strangers meet in unlikely places. Actor Samuthirakani’s character was said to be strikingly different. “Samuthirakani sir and Sunaina’s story will talk about how married couples can share the same room and bed and still be strangers. How they reach an understanding forms the rest of the story.”

She decided to make the film as an anthology because her stories were ‘short and sweet’, she said. “Sillu karupattis are broken pieces of palm sugar. This variety comes packed in a box, quite like the stories that fall within one umbrella.”

Produced by Venkatesh Vellineni under the banner Divine Productions, the film stars Samuthirakani, Sunaina, Leela Samson, Kravmaga Sreeram, Nivedhithaa Sathish, Sara Arjun, Rahul and Manikandan K.

Music is by Pradeep Kumar. The film has four cinematographers – Yamini Yagnamurthy, Manoj Paramahamsa, Abhinandan Ramanujam and Vijay Karthik Kannan.

It is expected to release in February 2019.
