Suriya’s next with director Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Sutru fame will begin shoot in Chennai tomorrow. Following its launch this morning, more updates about the film were announced. It is jointly produced by Guneet Monga and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, and stars Aparna Balamurali as the female lead.

The launch function was attended by the film’s cast and crew, and also Karthi and Sivakumar. The team released a statement with details, “The cast comprises of extraordinary performers from across the country. The music for the film is by GV Prakash, cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, production design by Jacki, editing by Satish Surya and costumes by Poornima Ramaswamy.”

Composer GV Prakash tweeted that Thaikudam Bridge, a popular band from Kerala, have collaborated and performed a rock song for the film. The band is well known for ‘Fish Rock’, ‘Navarasam’ and other songs. They are currently awaiting the release of their second album Namah which is a tribute to Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi composers.

The film is tentatively titled Suriya 38, and the makers are planning a 2020 release, said a source close to the movie. There have been reports that this is a biopic on the life of businessman GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan who introduced budget economy airfare in the country. This hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, pictures of Suriya and Guneet Monga’s visit to the Ajmer Dargah ahead of the launch have gone viral among his fans.

Suriya is currently awaiting director Selvaraghavan’s Nandha Gopala Kumaran (NGK), which will release on May 31. The film is in post-production, and the actor recently began dubbing work. Suriya’s third film with director KV Anand, Kaapaan, co-starring Mohanlal and Arya, is set to release during a holiday weekend in August or September. He is also working on a film with director Hari for the sixth time, after Vel, Aaru, and the Singam series.
