Actors Nayanthara and RJ Balaji’s upcoming film Mookuthi Amman’s trailer was released on the occasion of Dussehra on Sunday.
The film features Nayanthara as the eponymous Mookuthi Amman. RJ Balaji is seen to be playing the role of a journalist whose family becomes rich overnight due to Mookuthi Amman’s blessings. Together, they decide to take on a powerful and corrupt godman.
The movie is a political satire on self-proclaimed godmen. As seen in the two-minute 40-second trailer, Mookuthi Amman is filled with many references to current issues that are prevalent in society. A social tale told in a comical manner seems to be the goal of the film.

The film will be released on November 14, on the occasion of Diwali, on Disney+ Hotstar. Directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan, the movie will be released in both Tamil and Telugu.
Announcing the film on his Twitter handle, Telugu actor Mahesh Babu congratulated RJ Balaji on his directorial debut. The Telugu version of the film is titled Ammoru Thalli.

The movie, which was originally supposed to hit the screens in early 2020 was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mookuthi Amman also stars Urvashi, Ajay Ghosh, and Smruthi Venkat in supporting roles. Produced by Vels Film International, the movie had opted for an OTT release due to the delay in reopening theatres. Girish Gopalakrishnan is the music composer and Dinesh Krishnan is the film’s cinematographer.
RJ Balaji previously starred in LKG which was also a political satire, Nayanthara was last seen in Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar earlier this year.
