Actress Aditi Rao Hydari on Tuesday added her voice to the growing #MeToo campaign that has so far seen several women in the media and those across various industries including cinema outing predators at work. Talking about her own experience, Hydari said: “Stepping into cinema and working on your own terms is tough, but not impossible. I am an example of this. My opportunities might become fewer, but I have to choose how I want to deal with it. I had one bad experience and I stepped out from that, though I had a three-film deal. I was new and naive, but I have been brought up in a way where I know how to stand for my dignity. So I let go of an opportunity if it requires me to compromise on my dignity.”
While Aditi Rao Hydari is awaiting the release of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam – her second collaboration with Mani Ratnam after Kaatru Veliyidai, the actress has signed her next Tamil film with Mysskin which has Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead.
And, Sudheer Babu is neat in his role as a comic book writer-and-artist; and full-marks to Indraganti for writing a mature mother-son scene where the mother (Pavithra Lokesh) tells the son to accept rejection, and to not sulk.There’s a particular scene in this movie that appears almost an hour into the narrative that, I found, would speak volumes about our perception of women in the film industry.
When asked if there is a possibility of her learning the language as she’s shooting for her second film in Telugu, a space thriller with Varun Tej and director Sankalp Reddy, and she replies, “I am not that great with languages and I don’t think it will happen that easily.She’s this Hindi-speaking girl who is learning Telugu and excelling at it because she wants to do well in the film industry and the flawed diction would add authenticity to it.
