Swara Bhasker, who recently wrote an open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, slamming Padmaavat for glorifying jauhar, has been predictably facing a lot of vitriol on social media. Published by The Wire, Swara’s open letter titled ‘At The End of Your Magnum Opus… I Felt Reduced to a Vagina – Only’ draws attention to the misogyny portrayed in the film.

Singer Chinmayi Sripada, who not so long ago launched a petition against online abuse, requesting Twitter to get rid of accounts that use rape threats against women, was trolled when she supported actress Renu Desai. Singer Chinmayi Sripada, who has been threatened with rape and acid attacks on Twitter, has started an online campaign to make Twitter safe for women. At the time of publication, the campaign had over 47,000 signatures. The campaign wants Twitter to delete accounts of those people who threaten such “dire consequences” online, and try to teach women “a lesson” – all for speaking their mind. Chinmayi is frequently threatened because of her outspoken views.
