Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Kootam Is An Adaptation Of Akshay Kumar’s Special 26, Not A Remake

According to reports, the movie is an adaptation of the Bollywood film Special 26, which stars Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, and Kajal Aggarwal.Director Vignesh Shivan’s third movie, starring Suriya, has been titled Thaana Serntha Kootam (TSK).However, a source close to the film told the Deccan Chronicle that even if TSK is an adaption of Special 26, it cannot be called a remake.

The team effort is completely visible in George C. Williams’s extra ordinary camera work. His lens captures the chaotic day life and the serene atmosphere of Pondicherry’s night life with utmost perfection. Lyca Productions Acquires Select Distribution Rights For Visaranai And Naanum Rowdy Dhaan

Lyca Productions, who had a controversial run with Vijay’s Kaththi, has secured the overseas distribution rights of director Vetri Maaran’s experimental thriller Visaranai and the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of director Vignesh Shivan’s romantic comedy Naanum Rowdy Dhan. The official press release claims that the production house will be releasing Visaraanai sometime in December while Naanum Rowdy Dhan is gearing up for an October release.

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan Wrapped Up

Shooting of director Vignesh Shivan’s upcoming film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, has been wrapped up. The director took to Twitter to post a series of ‘Thank You’ messages to the artistes and technicians who have worked in the movie. Reports suggest that the movie might hit the screens sometime in August.

Yennai Arindhaal Single Track on December 11

A single track from Yennai Arindhaal will be released on December 11. Adhaaru Udhaaru, said to be the introduction song for Ajith Kumar in the film, with lyrics by director Vignesh Shivan, will be unveiled tomorrow. The film’s music composer Harris Jayaraj promised to release a song from the album as a gesture of thanks to fans of Ajith Kumar who made the teaser a big hit earlier this week.

Jeevan Joins Naanum Rowdy Dhaan

Thiruttu Payale fame Jeevan will essay an important role in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. A source close to the film told us that director Vignesh Shivan was insistent on roping in the actor as the role was a ‘very crucial one’. Jeevan has not been seen onscreen since Naan Avan Illai 2 and only recently signed on to don the lead role in Jeyikkira Kuthira, also featuring actresses Dimple Chopade and Ambika Soni.

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan Begins

Vijay Sethupathi’s Naanum Rowdy Dhaan goes on floors today. The film has Nayanthara as the love interest and is directed by Vignesh Shivan, who debuted with Poda Podi. The spokesperson for the movie told us that the film will be shot mostly in and around Chennai.

Gaana Bala Sings For Yennai Arindhaal

Gaana Bala has lent his voice to the opening number of Yennai Arindhaal. The singer has long dreamt of rendering a song for a ‘top’ star in the Tamil film industry and is ecstatic that he got to sing for actor Ajith’s much-awaited film. We hear that Bala has sung a few portions of Adhaaru Adhaaru song written by Vignesh Shivan. Harris Jayaraj has composed music and the song is said to feature Ajith and Arun Vijay, who plays the antagonist. The film is rapidly progressing towards the finish, and is likely to release on January 9.

Vijay Sethupathi in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan

Vijay Sethupathi will romance Nayanthara in Dhanush’s next production titled Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. This will be the seventh film to be produced under the actor’s Wunderbar films banner. Four other films are in production namely Kaaka Muttai, Taana, Shamitabh and Soodhadi. The Chanceyilla team of Vignesh Shivan, Anirudh Ravichander and George C Williams join hands for this one as well, as director, music composer and cinematographer respectively. Interestingly, the project was first introduced with Gautham Karthik and Lavanya Tripathi in the lead. Gautham Menon was supposed to produce it under his Photon Kathaas but the film seems to have changed hands now.

Anirudh’s Chanceyilla From August 1

Anirudh Ravichander’s independent single, Chanceyilla will be released on August 1. The composer plans to launch the music video shot around the song at an event at Express Avenue on the same day. Anirudh is also planning to perform the song live at the event. The track is an ode to Chennai, and has been filmed at some popular hangout spots in the city. It is directed by Vignesh Shivan, who rose to fame with the STR film Poda Podi. George C Williams, Anirudh’s colleague in Kaththi has panned the camera while Sathish has taken care of dance choreography.

Anirudh is Filming Chanceyilla

Composer Anirudh Ravichander has begun shooting the music video for his independent single,  Chanceyilla . Directed by Vignesh Shivan of Poda Podi fame, the single is an ode to Chennai and will have George C Williams panning the camera. Williams is currently on a break from Kaththi. Actor Sathish has been roped in to do the choreography for the song and plans are on to shoot the video at popular hangout spots in Chennai.
