The press meet of Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai was held at the newly refurbished Prasad Labs theatre, this morning. The new interior meant no more dusty seats and 5 rows of plastic seats hogging our view. The new push-back seats, and better sound and projection seemed very impressive.

Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai (MOKK) is the remake of the 2012 Malayalam film, Thattathin Marayathu. The film has Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar in the lead roles. While Isha reprises her role in this film, Walter Philips plays the male lead. Mithran Jawahar, who has made films like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty and Uthamaputhiran (all remakes) has directed MOKK. The lead actress, Isha Talwar took her time to pose for the camerapersons. Wearing a white summer dress, with quirky pieces of jewellery, she looked quite stunning.  The trailer and the songs were played – and the songs felt sub-par. The visuals, however, looked quite rich, and pointed at good cinematography. The song Mai Pottu looked like a ripoff of the Thudakkam Mangalyam song from Malayalam film Bangalore Days –  right from the setting to the location, to even the dance steps.

While all the members of the cast and crew kept their speeches to less than a minute, actor Walter Philips made sure that he compensated for their short speeches by taking thrice the time as the other guests – combined. He randomly remembered each and every person involved with the film and took out several minutes to personally thank them. He said that he is forever indebted to producer Thanu, who had sent him more scripts than he did to Vijay. “He was my constant source of support, and when I told him about this script, he was more than happy to help us make it.”

The film, which was scheduled for a release on 5 August, has been postponed to avoid clashes with other films releasing this weekend. The film has music by G V Prakash, cinematography by Vishnu Sharma and editing by Thiyagarajan.
