‘I Think It’s Enough To Be Recognised As A Good Actor’: Nivetha Thomas Ahead Of The Direct Premiere Of ‘V’ On Amazon Prime Video

Actor Nivetha Thomas has been constantly straddling between the different South Indian film industries, carefully picking films, and showcasing great performances. She was last seen in Brochevarevarura (2019) in Telugu, and in Darbar (2020) in Tamil.

Ahead of her upcoming maiden direct OTT release Vshe addressed the press and media about her role, her costars, and upcoming projects in the industry. Written and directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti, she will be seen along with NaniSudheer Babu, and Aditi Rao Hydari in the film. Bankrolled by Dil Raju, Shirish, and Harshith Reddy under their Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the film is set for a release on Amazon Prime Video on September 5.

Nivetha plays the role of Apoorva, a crime novel author. Speaking about it, she says, “I am well connected to the story and my character is a daring and confident yet obedient one. You will find out about the same once the film releases.”

Speaking about the title V, Nivetha says, “What is V? This is a question that is lingering on the minds of many people. If you want to know the actual secret behind V, you have to wait for the movie to begin streaming. But one could also say that V means Victory. In fact, our entire team is desperately awaiting victory with our V. We hope that the film will turn out to be a success.”

“The entire unit struggled to get the film to screen in theatres all over. However, due to unfavourable circumstances, the film could not see a theatrical release and is hitting Amazon Prime Video on September 5th,” said Nivetha when asked about the film’s direct release on OTT.

She added, “In fact, there is a huge difference between watching the film on a digital platform when compared to the big screen. The feeling is always great when you get to see it on screen. Every artist has to watch his/her film on the big screen regardless of the number of movies done. We wanted to see the movie on the big screens just as much as you people wanted to, but the situation has pushed us to take this decision.”

“It is also said that this is the first Telugu movie with numerous stars to hit the OTT platform and has thereby created curiosity on how the audience would respond to the direct release. I can assure you that it would be a good experience,” said Nivetha.

Nivetha says that her relationship with her co-actors Nani, Aditi, and Sudheer is beyond the professional arena. She adds that they’re good friends of hers. “I share a great relationship with them off-screen too, especially with Nani. We constantly discuss stories and characters with each other. His effort and dedication never fail to inspire me”

“I have worked with Mohanakrishna in this film. He is a director who chooses his script in accordance with the cast. So if I have been selected for his film, I think he somewhere believed that I would be able to do justice the role offered. I can confidently say that I was a part of a good movie,” said Nivetha.

Speaking about Nani’s character, Thomas says, “If you closely notice the teaser and trailer, you will see grey shades in Nani’s character. Everybody is of the assumption that Nani essays the villain in the film because of the way it has been showcased and designed. But, we do have surprises that I am not going to reveal now. You will witness the same once the film releases.”

The actress who has been essaying different roles with every film says that she does not think about becoming a star at all. “I am enjoying the level I am at right now. I think it’s enough to be recognised as a good actress, says Nivetha. When asked if she has faced problems owing to nepotism in the industry, the actress says that it hasn’t hampered her choices ever. However, Nivetha says that it is on her to look out for film opportunities. “I’m still a budding artist and there is no way directors are going to be on the lookout for me. It is my responsibility to bag opportunities and I will do the same regularly be it short films or feature films,” says Nivetha.

Nivetha says that she is always interested in learning new things and has been doing the same in the lockdown phase. “I read books, learnt about various software, and enjoyed spending time with family during the lockdown. I have also been listening to a few scripts. Out of the scripts, I have selected three Telugu films that are currently in the developing stage. Once it’s finalised, I will reveal the details.

She adds, “I listen to almost all of the scripts that come to me. But when it comes to making a decision, I ponder over the character and decide.”

Speaking about OTT opportunities, she says, “A lot of people have ventured into the digital platform for original content and are doing wonders. I haven’t been approached as yet for any film, but I’m always open to the medium if a good script comes my way.

Nivetha pledges to support producers and financiers in these unprecedented times with respect to remuneration. “Honestly, I’m unaware of film budgets and matters relating to finance. We had completed V prior to the lockdown and thus did not have issues. Nevertheless, I will wholeheartedly support producers on the issue of remuneration.”

She adds, “I am also confident that the current situation will not last long and everything will bounce back to normal sooner than later.”

V is about a cop whose life changes when a killer challenges him with a puzzle. Apart from the lead, the action thriller also stars Jagapathi BabuVennela KishoreNasser, and Srinivas Avasarala in supporting roles. The film is reportedly high on action, humour, and playful romance.
