6 New Films And Shows On Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Zee Plex This Week

From Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Serious Men, Aishwarya Rajessh and Vijay Sethupathi’s Ka Pae Ranasingam to Jim Parsons and Zachary Quinto’s The Boys In The Band, six new titles across several languages are dropping on OTT platforms this week.

Serious Men– Netflix (Releasing on October 2)

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Serious Men is a Netflix adaptation of the 2010 Manu Joseph novel of the same name. Siddiqui plays the role of Ayyan, who works as an assistant for a scientist and through his wits and elaborate schemes is on a mission to convince everyone that his son is a child prodigy. The film is directed by Sudhir Mishra and also stars Nasser, Aakshath Das and Indira Tiwari, among actors.

 

The Boys In The Band -Netflix (Releasing on September 30)

Netflix’s much-awaited adaptation of The Boys In The Band, a 1968 play set in New York City, will premiere on Wednesday. In the film, a surprise guest and a drunken game turn the evening upside down for a group of gay friends during a birthday party in New York. The film is directed by Joe Mantello and stars Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Tuc Watkins, Andrew Rannels, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesus, Brian Hutchinson and Michael Benjamin Washington.

 

Ka Pae Ranasingam – Zee Plex (Releasing on October 2)

Ka Pae Ranasingam comes with a social message. The trailer gives us a glimpse into the plight of farmers who have had to give up their lands to make way for industrial plants. The film is written and directed by P Virumandi and stars Aishwarya Rajessh and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The film will release on ZeePlex on October 2, on pay per view mode. Priced at Rs 199 per view, the film is releasing in five languages and will be subtitled in 10 languages. It will become the first Tamil film in recent years to release on DTH on pay-per-view mode.

Emily in Paris-Netflix (Releasing on October 2)

The trailer of Season 1 of Emily In Paris, from Darren Star – the creator of Sex And the City and Younger, brims with style, energy, adventure. The show follows Emily (Lily Collins), as she embarks on an adventure and moves to Paris as part of her work as a marketing professional. In Paris, Emily navigates the intricacies of working in a foreign country. When it comes to Emily’s dating life, it looks like a whole new ballgame. The show also stars Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Kate Walsh.

 

Nishabdham/Silence– Amazon Prime Video (Releasing on October 2)

Nishabdam, a Telugu/Tamil thriller film, starring Anushka Shetty and R Madhavan in lead roles, will drop on Amazon Prime Video this weekend. According to makers, Nishabdam is about Sakshi (Anushka), an artist who unexpectedly becomes the witness of an untoward incident in a villa that is known among the local folks for being ‘haunted’. In the trailer, Anushka and Madhavan are seen driving up to the ‘haunted’ mansion, seeking a prized work of art.

 

Khaali Peeli – Zee Plex (Releasing on Oct 2)

Khaali Peeli is the latest Bollywood film to premiere on a streaming service on pay-per-view mode. Titled after the black and yellow taxi that Banda (Ishaan Khatter) drives in the film, the film seems to be the story of one crazy journey that two people end up on. Starring Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles, it will premiere on Zee Plex on October 2 and has been priced at Rs 299 per view.
