The trailer of Masaba Masaba starring debutant Masaba Gupta in the lead has dropped. Helmed by Sonam Nair, the series is being bankrolled by Ashvini Yardi’s Viniyard Films. It stars herself and mother Neena Gupta in the lead roles.
At first, the young and bubbling Masaba is shown, content with her life, like every child. Cut to the present, we find a grownup Masaba wanting to stay indoors with a beer bottle to herself. While Masaba fails to face her inner problems, she is bold, mature, and outspoken to celebrities who need Swach Bharath outfits that match their dogs, her boss (Neil Bhoopalam) who keeps policing her, and her mother (Neena Gupta) who fails to understand her. She finally gets her life together by tackling her inhibitions and turning out to be the ‘Millenial Fashion Icon of The Year’.

It is a scripted series based on the real-life moments from entrepreneur Masaba Gupta’s life. The series celebrates her life offering a glimpse into her fashion, romance, heartbreaks, and struggles she’s braved.

Apart from the leading ladies, Masaba Masaba also stars Neil Bhoopalam, Satyadeep Misra, Rytasha Rathod, and Suchitra Pillai in important roles with Kiara Advani, Farah Khan, and Mithila Palkar in cameo roles. The rest of the crew details are yet to be revealed.
“Mom and I are playing fictionalised characters of ourselves in Masaba Masaba. The series is a slice of our lives and reliving key moments even though fictionalised, took me down the memory lane. Sharing screen space with mom was quite an experience,” said Masaba in a statement.
The Netflix Original will stream on the platform from August 28.
