“The talks are on for sure with Nandamuri Balakrishna and it will be a talk show. Things are progressing quickly. It will be a celebrity talk show, which will be conducted in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s style, featuring people he has known over the years and worked with,” the source added.

The source also said the upcoming show is being conceptualised for the Aha platform by someone in Bombay. “But they are looking for a local director to helm the show and the platform is in talks with filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi to direct it.”

An official announcement is yet to be made.

On the film front, Balakrishna has the action entertainer Akhanda coming up next. The film, written and directed by filmmaker Boyapati Srinu, was wrapped up recently. The makers revealed on Tuesday that the film will release in theatres. A release date has not been locked yet.

The actor also is set to collaborate with filmmaker Gopichand Malineni for a Telugu film, tentatively called NBK 107. It will be an action entertainer shot in India and abroad.

Meanwhile, Balakrishna found himself caught in controversy in July for his comments on music composer AR Rahman and the Bharat Ratna award during an interview with a Telugu news channel. The actor received severe backlash after he said that he does not acknowledge the musician and added, “He gives a hit once in ten years and gets an Oscar for that.” He also said that he does not care about India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, and compared it to his father NT Rama Rao’s toenail.
