Mirzapur Season 2 Trailer Promises Revenge Drama Beyond Mirzapur

Weeks after the premiere date was announced, the trailer of hinterland politics and revenge saga Mirzapur Season 2, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Mihir Desai, released on Tuesday. The trailer of the Amazon Original crime drama series garnered a whopping 4,95,000 views within its first hour of release.

According to the trailer, there’s a notable shift in the new season’s storyline’s focus – from the brothers (Guddu and Bablu played by Ali Fazal and Vikrant Massey, respectively) to other families, beyond Mirzapur, that are running illegal businesses in their own localities.

The trailer begins with a voice over from Pankaj Tripathi, who plays the the character of druglord Kaaleen Bhaiya saying: “Jo aaya hai woh jaayega bhi. Bas, marzi hamari hogi. (What has come, will also go. But only as per my wish.) It goes on to show the aftermath of the massacre in Gorakhpur from Season 1 with a continuation of the storyline, while introducing a slew of characters. Season 2 is also expected to be replete with gun shots and graphic violence.

According to Amazon Prime Video, Season 2 isn’t confined to the violent world of Mirzapur but  features places beyond Mirzapur, where a political and criminal nexus exist.

The cast lineup also seems to have grown this season. Along with a fresh cast comprising Vijay Varma, Priyanshu Painyuli and Isha Talwar, the earlier cast from Season 1 (Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Shekhar GaurAmit Sial, Anjum SharmaSheeba Chaddha, Rajesh TailangManu Rishi Chadha) has been retained.

Viewers will be in for an immersive experience through the plot twists, character developments and captivating storyline in Season 2,” he added. 

The 10-part season will premiere on October 23.
