Disney+ Hotstar on Friday announced four new Tamil series – Live Telecast, My Perfect Husband, November Story, and Triples – that will soon premiere on the streaming platform. It also announced the release of Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman during Diwali 2020.
During a live web conference held on Friday, RJ Balaji, who has helmed Mookuthi Amman, announced the release of his movie on Disney+ Hotstar on Diwali and added that the trailer of the film will release in Tamil and Telugu on Sunday, during the match Indian Premiere League match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“Mookuthi Amman is a god film. We have not seen a film about a god in the last 15 to 20 years. For this generation, Nayanthara will play the god. This movie has an important message to convey. We are living in troubled times now and during this time I wanted to make a socially responsible film that you can watch with your family members,” he said.
Apart from the release update regarding Mookuthi Amman, Disney+ Hotstar also announced four new web series with an ensemble cast. Makers of the shows revealed a few details about the project during the web conference.
The horror web series created by Venkat Prabhu features Kajal Aggarwal in the lead, co-starring Vaibhav Reddy and Anandhi. Talking about Aggarwal’s character, Prabhu said: “I wanted to portray Kajal in a never-seen-before character. She plays the role of a film director. She usually plays bubbly and feminine characters. In this show, she is assertive and she is the boss of her team.”
My Perfect Husband
This comedy drama stars Sathyaraj and Seetha in the lead and Aajeedh of Super Singer and Rakshan of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal in pivotal roles. Sathyaraj said that he was happy to experiment in a show that is to be released on an OTT platform. “This platform will be very strong in the future. We can do a lot of experimental things here. I was very happy when I was told that the series will be released on Hotstar. It is very important to enter a new platform. We need to adapt ourselves with the changing times,” he said.
Triples, directed by Charukesh Sekar, presented by Karthik Subbaraj, and starring Jai, Vani Bhojan, Vivek Prasanna and Rajkumar in the lead roles has been billed as a comedy web series. Subbaraj talked about his desire to make a comedy show. “It is an ode to Crazy Mohan sir’s style of writing,” he said.
November Story starring Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead role has been billed as a crime thriller. “The web space gives an actor the space to perform differently. When it comes to movies we have a time limit. Here we get the time to explore and when I heard the story of November Story, I really liked the writing. This is the medium where the writing can really flourish,” Tamannaah said.
Release dates for the four web series have not been confirmed yet. Disney+ Hotstar President Sunil Rayan stated that the series will be releasing in seven different languages. He also announced that a new set of series and movies have been planned for the future.
