The series is produced by BBC and Northstar Entertainments and is set to stream on ZEE5. Gaalivaana will mark the debut of Sai Kumar in the OTT space.

In conversation with Silverscreen India, director Koppisetty says, “Gaalivaana means a cyclone or tornado in Telugu. The web series is set against the backdrop of a coastal village in Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh. It revolves around two families – one is Radikaa’s and the other is Sai Kumar’s. They get involved in a murder case and the crime happens during a cyclonic night, hence the title. The series is essentially a murder mystery.”

Other cast members include Chandini Chowdary of Colour Photo fame, Chaitanya Krishna, Nandini Rai, Thagubothu Ramesh, and Ashritha Vemuganti. Chowdary and Chaitanya play Radikaa’s children, adds Kopisetty.

The series will comprise of six episodes, which will each run for about 40-45 minutes.

Gaalivaana went on floors in November and about 50% of the shooting has been completed. The filming is scheduled to be wrapped up by January 2022. The series is shot by cinematographer Sujatha Sidharth. Hyderabad and Amalapuram are the primary locations.

The filmmaker tells us that the series is expected to be released in March 2022.
