Halal Love Story is the third Malayalam feature film to premiere on an OTT platform since Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya starrer Sufiyum Sujatayum and Fahadh Fasil’s C U Soon. The film is being bankrolled under the Papaya Films and produced by Aashiq Abu, Harshad Ali and Jesna Ashim.

According to Amazon Prime Video, the film is about Thoufeek, a young man from an orthodox family who is passionate about filmmaking. The cultural wing of an Islamic organisation approaches him with the idea of making a film, for which he asks Siraj, an associate director, to be the director. The challenge for the crew is to keep the movie ‘halal’ (meaning lawful or allowed to do under Islamic beliefs). As the crew follows religious guidelines, massive confusions happen and an unorthodox Siraj (film director) struggles to go ahead with the project

“We are happy to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video for the global release of this rib-tickling family entertainer,” said Mohammed. “We have seen immense excitement amongst audiences for the release of the film and are excited about the global release. Working with this phenomenal ensemble cast has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to viewers across 200 countries and territories staying entertained with our labour of love.”
