Hush Hush: Amazon Prime Video Announces All-Female Led Hindi Series Starring Juhi Chawla, Ayesha Jhulka

Hush Hush, the upcoming Hindi thriller drama series by Amazon Prime Video, will be led by women cast and technical crew members, the streaming giant announced in a statement on Monday on the occasion of Women’s Day.

The tentatively titled show will star Juhi Chawla and Ayesha Jhulka, both of whom will be making their digital debut, Amazon Prime Video said in the press note. The series will also star Soha Ali Khan, Karishma Tanna, Shahana Goswami, and Kritika Kamra.

According to the streaming platform, the thriller drama will have a “unique female gaze” and “propels forward the movement of women telling their own stories”.

The show’s release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Produced by Vikram Malhotra under the banner of Abundantia Entertainment, the series’ creative director will be filmmaker-writer Tanuja Chandra. Director of Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017), Chandra is known for making women-oriented films. She will also serve as executive producer along with Shikhaa Sharma, who conceptualised the show and has written the original screenplay.

While the show will be directed by Kopal Naithani, National Award winning writer Juhi Chaturvedi will be writing the dialogues. Ashish Mehta, the show’s writer, will be the only male member of the technical crew.

The show will also rope in the female crew for its positions, including production designer, costume designer, supervising producer, and co-producers.

“Video streaming in India has brought about a significant change in storytelling by pushing female narratives to the fore and I couldn’t be more pleased! It’s what directors like me have waited for,” Chandra said in the statement.
