‘Maradona: Sueño Bendito’, Amazon Prime Video Series, to Release Later This Year

The teaser of Maradona: Sueño Benditoan upcoming Amazon Original series which has been in the making for years, was released on Monday by the streaming platform.

The series will premiere later in the year on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries.

The biopic series, with 10 hour-long episodes will follow the key moments of the life and career of legendary Argentine football player Diego Armando Maradona. It will focus on the triumphs and challenges faced by him.

Maradona: Sueño Bendito will be chronicling Maradona’s life and prolific career that began in the town of Fiorito in Argentina, to his game-changing career through Barcelona and Napol. He played in four FIFA World Cups and the series will portray his historic role in helping his national team win the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Scoring over 350 goals for clubs and country combined, he played for six clubs- Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, and Newell’s Old Boys.

Maradona: Sueño Bendito stars Nazareno Casero (Historia de un Clan), Juan Palomino (Magnifica 70) and Nicolas Goldschmidt (Supermax) portraying Maradona. The series also features Julieta Cardinali (En Terapia, Valentin), Laura Esquivel (Patito Feo), Mercedes Morán (Diarios de Motocicleta), Pepe Monje (Amor en Custodia) and Peter Lanzani (El Clan) in pivotal roles.

Alejandro Aimetta led the series as the showrunner and director of the episodes filmed in Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay. He has also written the show along with Guillermo Salmerón (El Marginal) and Silvina Olschansky (El Marginal), while Roger Gual and Edoardo De Angelis directed the rest of the episodes which were shot in Spain and Italy, respectively.
