Putham Pudhu Kaalai, Anthology of 5 Tamil Short Films, to Premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 16

Putham Pudhu Kaalai, an anthology of five Tamil short films directed by Sudha Kongara, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratman, Rajiv Menon, and Karthik Subbaraj, set in and filmed during the lockdown will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 16.

According to filmmakers, Putham Pudhu Kaalai was shot in compliance with rules and regulations set by the Film Employees’ Federation of South India for filming after the lockdown was lifted. The stories feature themes of love, new beginnings, second chances, and a glimmer of hope.

Among the five films; Ilamai Idho Idho, directed by Sudha Kongara, stars Malayalam actor Jayaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi and Kalyani Priyadarshan while Avarum Naanum/Avalum Naanum, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, stars MS Bhaskar and Ritu Varma. Coffee, Anyone? is directed by and also stars Suhasini Mani Ratnam along with Anu Hasan and Shruti Haasan. Other films include Reunion, directed by Rajiv Menon, starring Andrea Jeremiah, Leela Samson and Sikkhil Gurucharan and Miracle, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, starring Bobby Simha and Muthu Kumar.

The anthology is a first for Amazon Prime Video will be available to stream across 200 countries from the October 16, Amazon Prime Video said in a statement. It follows the successful release of several Tamil films such as Penguin and Ponmagal Vandhal as well as Amazon Original series Comicstaan Semma Comedy Pa.
